San Francisco Zinefest 2014 is over! This year’s event was busier than usual for me; I was invited to participate in the fest’s yearly kickoff event at the Cartoon Art Museum - Thinking Captions. I shared the stage with some very talented people, and I was relived and flattered every time the audience laughed (since I was trying very hard to be funny). Thank you to everyone who made it out to the city for the event, and for the SFZF organizers for making sure everyone had such a good time!
Zinefest itself was great, though I barely had a chance to leave my table. Luckily I was still able to trade books with some nice folks and pick up a few goodies.
The amazing Business Ladies Guide to Business was my favorite book of the weekend. It’s a hefty joint effort by Emily, Jennie, and Abigail full of stories about bad jobs, family histories, and thoughtful analyses of reported data.
It was very nice to meet Megan and Justin; we traded books before I realized they were organizers of the Oakland Drink & Draw, which I’ve been following on tumblr for months while I’ve been working up the nerve to attend. Now that I know people there, I have no excuse not to go!
Other great books:
Story of A Coffee Addict by Hannah
Daises by Paige Greco
NZ is Terrible by Jennifer Marie Hoff (through Mondo Bummer)
Period the Zine #2 by Sarah Godfrey & Amelia Greenhall of Double Union
Mini Jungle by Anjelica Colliard
Here’s to a wonderful fall. Happy reading!
